Designtaxi.com: Getty Images Gets Charitable with 'Grants for Good'

Getty Images have announced photographers Sam Faulkner and Annie Marie Musselman as winners of its 2010 Grants for Good programme. Each photographer, together with their agencies, will be awarded US$15,000 to develop compelling new imagery that will “elevate the awareness of a nonprofit they have chosen to support”, the company said 24 June.

Jakarta Globe: Women Build For Women

With the poverty rate hovering at 14 percent, Indonesia’s women represent some of the most vulnerable poor in the country due to their limited input and influence over national development programs, policies and laws. To tackle this often overlooked issue, three Jakarta-based women have established a nonprofit organization called Women Build for Women (WBFW), which aims to make the lives of financially disadvantaged Indonesian women a little easier.

Humanitarian organization World Vision Indonesia, or Wahana Visi Indonesia, recently marked 50 years of service to children's welfare in the country. Wahana Visi Indonesia's programs cover more than education and also focus on water access, nutrition and health for children.

Accounting Guide for Non-Profits

After our Governance conference in 2003, APPC decided to launch a Financial Accounting Standards project that surveyed accounting issues and practices in seven countries – Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, the Philippines and Thailand – with the aim of developing a more responsible non-profit sector in the region. This project produced a comprehensive Accounting Guide for Nonprofits, which we published in April 2006.
